The press has invested in the movie, mostly to remark on its fuzzy marketing campaign and low tracking scores, though many fans and industry people alike have sounded off over fading star power of both Cruise and Diaz. It's all kinda sad, especially since we think the trailers have been fun and that Tom Cruise has done a good job at trying to be celebrity again.

My Buzz: The comic-reading boys I grew up with cannot believe that the Weird Western Tales anti-hero has his own movie, but 2010 is the year that Hollywood is testing how many layers deep they can go into comic-book territory and generate hit movies. Too bad the project has felt hexed from its development to production, and inside reports say audiences are unlikely to line up for opening weekend. But we love an underdog, don't you, and if there's an outsider to root for this season, it's definitely Jonah. We're hoping the movie doesn't bomb and that an unrated DVD release will create the demand for a proper, R-rated sequel.

If the Big 12 indeed survives, if commissioner Dan Beebe’s last-ditch effort to save the league with promises of a huge television payday in the coming years works, who are the winners and losers?

WINNER

January football: OU’s and Texas’ road to the national championship game just got a lot easier, with no Nebraska and no Big 12 title game. Remember the long-time Big 12 refrain that if it had to play a title game, every league should have to play a title game? That argument will be reversed, now that the Big Ten is likely to add a title game and the Pac-10, too, if it adds another school.

LOSER

December Football: We’re about to discover what a huge platform the Big 12 championship game provides. While the SEC, ACC and soon Big Ten (and maybe the Pac-10) plays a showdown on the final Saturday of the regular season, the Big 12’s championship game will have been played two months earlier, in the Cotton Bowl.

WINNER

Dan Beebe: The maligned commissioner was ridiculed only a few days ago as a weak leader whose league was crumbling. Now he’s the man who saved it.

LOSER

Conference Status: A 10-team league that’s top-heavy with OU and Texas, with Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas and Kansas State at the bottom? The Big 12 clearly will be ahead of only the Big East in reputation.

WINNER

Loyalty: OU and OSU can sleep easier at night, knowing it didn’t effectively ruin the athletic departments of old friends Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas State and Missouri.

LOSER

Conference Stability: OU and OSU can’t sleep too easy, knowing the conference is built on sand. What if the projected revenues don’t come to pass? What if the Big Ten eventually warms up to Missouri? What if A&M rethinks the SEC? And will the cushy Plan B of the Pac-10 be available next time?

WINNER

Kansas City: Without a Big 12, there is no Big 12 basketball tournament, and KC’s new Sprint Center – without an NBA or NHL tenant – was about to lose its marquee event. But now the tournament can remain in Kansas City and bring millions of dollars to KC coffers.

LOSER

Oklahoma City: OKC has been effectively shut out of the Big 12 basketball tournament. The Pac-10 offered a chance to get back into the hoops rotation.

WINNER

The Forgettables: Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor were about to be left behind, with a shambles of a conference and nowhere good to go. But now the Big 12 lives, apparently with increased revenues, and the immediate future isn’t so dismal for KU, MU, KSU, ISU and Baylor.

LOSER

Jerry Jones: The Big 12 gave his stadium the conference title game through 2013, but 2010 will be the final Big 12 championship game unless the league expands or NCAA rules change.

WINNER

Texas A&M’s Manhood: In the end, the Aggies not only publicly stood up to Texas, they ended up with the final decision. Jumping to the SEC could have triggered the mass exodus for the Pac-10 by at least four other schools.

LOSER

OU Manhood: The Sooners publicly let Texas run interference on the potential conference shakeup and make the decision on staying. OU no doubt was more involved than it appeared, but in the end, A&M seemed to think for itself while the Sooners didn’t.

WINNER

Traveling Fans: More drivable games for OU and OSU fans. You can drive to Columbia and Ames. Can’t drive to Tempe or Tucson.

Television Fans: You can drive to more games, but the games aren’t as good once you get there. More Texas-Kansas and Oklahoma-Iowa State games does not make for great television.

Mike Gundy’s Scheduling: Gundy always has wanted to scrap the championship game and play every team in the league. Now he’s got his wish.

LOSER

SEC: The SEC seemed on the verge of getting Texas A&M and forging a niche in the rich recruiting grounds of Texas. Now, the SEC remains just outside the nation’s best high school football state.

WINNER

Southern Cal: While recovering from a major NCAA probation, the Trojans were faced with beating OU or Texas, some years at JerryWorld in Arlington, to reach the Rose Bowl.

LOSER

Big 12 Parity: OU and Texas have dominated the league for a decade, but at least there was hope that Nebraska could find its footing and make a football Big Three. And Colorado has had its moments during the Big 12 era. Now, fewer teams than ever can challenge the Sooners and Longhorns.

WINNER

Big 12 Budgets: If Beebe’s promised riches for a new television contract hold, the television revenues for most schools will more than double. That’s transforming for schools like OSU, Iowa State, Kansas State and Texas Tech.

LOSER

Pac-10: The Pac-10 seemed on the verge of transforming the collegiate landscape. Now, all the Pac-10 has done is add Colorado.

Arizona schools: Arizona State and Arizona were about to join the Big 12 South, which would have been a steep upgrade from its current Pac-10 schedule.

Vengeance: Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon’s crack about OSU’s and Tech’s academics now will go unpunished. In the Pac-10, Tech and OSU would have had the last laugh.

Texas Power: The Longhorns maintain their kingpin status in the Big 12 and lose their gadfly, Nebraska. The Longhorns will held the league hostage, then saved it at the end.

Sean Hayes was a great, impish, multi-talented host of Sunday night's Tony Awards telecast.

He began by showing his considerable piano chops before joining in with a jam with the guys from "Million Dollar Quartet" -- including later-Tony Award winner Levi Kreis.

But if you were worried that Hayes was going to be in a please-take-me-as-a-serious-artist mode, that concern was erased as soon as he started his opening remarks and his "Promises, Promises" co-star Kristen Chenoweth joined him in some hot lip-locks, hilariously addressing the 'can-gay-men-be-taken-seriously-in-straight-roles?' broughaha that began with that very dumb Newsweek blog.

Hayes also made reference to his hosting the shopw while being nominated, saying it allows him the rare chance of losing and bombing in the same show.

Then some funny jokes and tweaks: "The Tonys are 64 years old this year or as Angela Lansbury would say, 'a whippersnapper.' "

Looking over the troubles of various NFL players of late, surely the smart guys know that in order to stay out of trouble, they must stay away from troubled. The Vince Young fight was said to have started when the manager of the club tried to tease Young about his position on the National Championship Texas Longhorns. Looking over the video, it’s painfully obvious that Young wasn’t sober. And, once again, nothing good can come from such situations.

World cup 2010 schedule

The World Cup schedule is printable, and will be analyzed for the next month. The World Cup printable schedule shows how it will all begin at Soccer City in Johannesburg tomorrow, and end there exactly one month later.

In between those two matches, 62 games will be played, at 10 different locations all around South Africa. Soccer fans may have a hard time keeping track of it all, so they are trying to print out the date and time for every game. The World Cup schedule, printable or not, will be the highest commodity in sports for the next few weeks ahead.

The journey begins at 10 am est tomorrow, when host nation South Africa hosts Mexico in the opening game. Afterwards, at 2:30 pm est, 2006 runner-up France starts off against Uruguay. However, the first round match that is most circled on the World Cup printable schedule could be on Saturday.

Day 2 of the first round starts with Greece vs South Korea at 7:30 am est, followed by Argentina vs Nigeria at 10 am. But at 2:30 pm, the nightcap features England vs the United States, in the most hyped early match on the World Cup schedule.

After the big opening day, and the showdown on Saturday afternoon, things stand to settle down for the rest of the round. The World Cup printable schedule shows three games on each day, until Tuesday June 22. From the 22'nd to the 25'th, there will be four games each day, as the eight groups work to form the round of 16.

Those who have the World Cup printable schedule will notice the round of 16 starts the day after the first round ends. The second round is held from June 26 to 29, and then the tournament finally has an off day on June 30 and July 1. The quarterfinals take place on July 2 and 3, with two games each, before the semifinalists meet on July 6 and 7.

At long last, the World Cup printable schedule shows the last games on July 10 and 11. The third place game is on the 10'th, at Port Elizabeth, and then the championship will be held where it all began. A month after South Africa and Mexico face off at Soccer City, the two best teams left in the world will meet for the big prize on July 11, at 2:30 pm est.

one trophy, but no one was surprised by who it was. Carrie Underwood once again established
her place on top
of the country music food chain, two months after being the big CMA Awards 2010 winner. For the CMTs, there were only nine categories on the live show, which is relatively small by award show standards. Bu,t unlike the other CMT Awards 2010 winners, Underwood was able to win more than one of those categories.

Underwood triumphed on the strength of her video "Cowboy Casanova," which was named the Video of the Year. Beforehand, she was honored for giving the Performance of the Year, for her rendition of "Temporary Home" at her Invitation-only special.

After leading the CMA Awards 2010 winners, the CMT victories continue to place Underwood at the head of country music. Taylor Swift held that honor for much of last year, but she was actually shut out last night, after getting three nominations. On the awards circuit, at least, this has been Underwood's year, and not so much Swift's.

The other CMT Awards winners had to split the remaining seven trophies. Since Underwood already had the Video of the Year, it left the Female Video of the Year to be claimed by Miranda Lambert, for "White Liar." The male prize went to Keith Urban for "'Til Summer Comes Around."

Lady Antebellum added to its increasingly large collection of trophies as well. They were among the CMT Awards 2010 winners due to "Need You Now," which won the Group Video of the Year. Brooks & Dunn continued their farewell tour by picking up another trophy for "Indian Summer," as it won Duo Video of the Year.

To round out the CMT 2010 winners, Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins' "Hillbilly Bone" got the Collaborative Video of the Year, and the Breakthrough Video prize went to Luke Bryan's "Do I." and Shaun Silva was named Director of the Year.

One-woman army Lady Gaga has just unleashed a video clip for her latest single "Alejandro." The video officially made its world premiere today on Gaga's YouTube channel.

The nearly 7-minute film, directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein, plays out like a dark piece of macabre theatre and is a more introspective departure from her previous clip "Telephone" featuring R&B siren Beyonce.

"Alejandro" stars Gaga, 24, alone as the sole female figure sans the obnoxious product placements that crowded her last two videos, "Telephone" and "Bad Romance." No Wonder Bread endorsements, here, thankfully.

Throughout the music video, she's encircled by an army of choreographed, chiseled dancers writhing around her body in a protective way. With her singing with the sultry refrain: "You know that I love you boy / Hot like Mexico, rejoice."

Once again dressing to provoke, Lady Gaga wears a red leather nun's habit in part of the video .

Visually, it's a monochromatic, sex 'n' religion-fueled escapade into Gaga's inner psyche -- replete with wooden crucifixes, man-on-man eroticism and swallowed rosary beads.

The Madonna-isms run high in this clip, from her short-cropped, platinum blond wig and black blazer suit, set against the stark, post-industrialist mood of the clip (a la "Express Yourself"), to her exaggerated machine gun bra (similar to the infamous coned bra in "Vogue"). All melds to make the video play out like a visual love letter to Madonna's early '90s "Blond Ambition" era.

Apple geeks, rejoice! According to CNN, Apple’s Steve Jobs unveiled the new iPhone 4 at the Apple Conference 2010 in San Francisco, and thin is in. ”In 2010 we’re going to take the biggest leap since the original iPhone,” Jobs said. “This is really hot.”

iPhone 4 will be “the thinnest smartphone on the planet” at 9.3 mm thick – 24 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS, the company’s current model. Also included in the new iPhone is a front-facing camera for video conferencing, and an LED flash camera on the back. The phone will have a 5 megapixel camera with a backside illuminated sensor, which Jobs said is fairly new to smartphones.

The iPhone 4 will be redesigned with a glass back and metal around the sides. “Just gorgeous. And it’s really thin,” Steve Jobs said. Maybe the skinny CEO is designing it after himself?

And of course, apps are alive and well. More than 5 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple’s App Store, Jobs said. The crowd at the conference cheered when he said that 70 percent of app sales goes to developers – which totals $1 billion to date. (Time to work on that app you’ve been thinking about!)

The biggest winner of the night was definitely The Twilight Saga New Moon. Given the Award for Best Movie of 2010, New Moon also brought several awards for its stars. Twilight main actor Robert Pattinson, starring Edward Cullen in the movie, received the Award for Best Male Performance and Award for Global Superstar. The Award for Best Kiss of the year went again to Steward and Pattison, who also received the award last year, for their performance in the Twilight series.

Even though The Hangover did not make it for the Best Movie, its actor Ken Jeong was the topic of the ceremony. Jeong, who starred as the Korean crime boss Mr Chow in the film received laughs for wearing a leotard and parading around the stage, and the audience had tears of grateful thanks to his wife who went overcame breast cancer. "The reason why I [appeared in 'The Hangover'] is that she taught me that life is short, so don't be afraid to take chances,” said the actor.

PORN STAR Stephen Clancy Hill also known as Steve driver, who was recently accused of killing one of his colleagues and stabbing two other using a samurai, died after throwing himself off a 50 feet deep cliff.

The one killed in the incident was Tom Dong also known as Herbert Wong. The weapon Steven Driver used to kill his colleagues was a prop that was supposed to be used in a film.
Police has been looking for Stephen Hill since then. But when Police found him and surrounded him near the edge of a West Hill cliff, he threatened to end his life.

At around 5.30 pm, he threw himself off the cliff. He was later pronounced to be dead. Deputy Chief, Kirk Albanese said that Stephen was bent on taking his own life. It was very unfortunate as they wanted to end this in a different way.

McDonald’s USA today issued a voluntary recall of its four Shrek Forever After glassware recently offered in its U.S. restaurants. Customers should stop using the glasses and visit www.mcdonalds.com/glasses beginning June 8 for instructions on how to return them and get a refund.

McDonald‘s safety standards are among the highest in the industry and the company has a strong track record. To be clear, the glassware was evaluated by an independent third-party laboratory which is accredited by the CPSC, and determined to be in compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements at the time of manufacture and distribution.


However, in light of the CPSC’s evolving assessment of standards for cadmium in consumer products, McDonald’s determined in an abundance of caution that a voluntary recall of the Shrek Forever After glasses is appropriate.

“When the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission approached McDonald’s about cadmium in their current movie-themed drinking glasses, the company responded quickly, agreed to cooperate fully and acted on the side of caution,” said Scott Wolfson, Director of the Office of Information and Public Affairs, CPSC. “The glasses have far less cadmium than the children’s metal jewelry that CPSC has previously recalled.”

McDonald’s has a longstanding, cooperative relationship with the CPSC, and continues to follow their lead as testing protocols and new scientific information becomes available.

The Shrek Forever After glassware was offered in four glass designs at McDonald’s restaurants beginning May 21. The four designs include Puss n’ Boots, Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey. Customers can also call McDonald’s toll-free number at 1-800-244-6227. Previous McDonald’s promotional glassware is not involved in the recall.

Killers movie review

Everybody's cyber-pal Ashton Kutcher is perfect casting for Killers, since the screenplay is shallow as a Tweet and the movie appears to have been shot with a Nikon point-and-click camera he plugs on TV.

Kutcher needs each of his 5 million Twitter followers plunking down $8 for this listless, laughless "action comedy" if his movie career can avoid getting punked again.

For his co-star Katherine Heigl - possibly the toughest woman in movies to warm up to - it's already too late.

Killers casts Kutcher as Spencer, one of those super secret government agents who must've been hired because he looks nothing like the part. Spencer is on assignment in France when he meets Jen (Heigl), a recently dumped flutterbug on vacation with her parents (Tom Selleck, Catherine O'Hara), so you know she's a winsome loser. It's love at first sight of Spencer's washboard abs.

He decides to give up killing people for a living because that's what people do when they're in love. Three years later, they're married and living in a manicured suburb without Jen knowing Spencer's past. He comes clean only after a $20 million bounty is placed on his head, making neighbors and co-workers potential assassins. Oh, and Jen may be pregnant, allowing Heigl another of her trademark home pregnancy test scenes.

Nothing really materializes in the way of a plot until the final minutes and probably the clumsiest stretch for a resolution you'll see this summer. Nearly an hour of flirting without chemistry and introductions to one-note (if any) characters passes until anything approaching excitement happens. When it does, it's usually squealing tires, shattering glass and enough bullets to cause lead poisoning by simply breathing.

The script for Killers contains one decent joke, actually a throwaway wisecrack by Spencer about being a 4-H Club member in high school. Even a comedy near-legend like O'Hara is saddled with a role demanding nothing more than pretending to drink heavily at the wrong times. Selleck plays it grim as Jen's intimidating, protective father until that ludicrous finale when he revs it up to gruff.

At least Selleck has some sort of personality on screen. Kutcher has seldom appeared so bland and disinterested in pleasing his fans, while Heigl's best line deliveries are shrieks nearly drowning out the gunfire.

Lionsgate refused to show Killers to critics anywhere until opening day, and for once the axiom that only lousy movies are kept hidden is true. Kutcher did post the first 13 minutes of the movie on his Twitter page, which should be enough to save you a trip to the theater. It wouldn't take 140 characters to describe Killers in that social networking format; four letters should be enough.

As Jonah Hill and Russell Brand's "Get Him to the Greek" arrives in theaters Friday (June 4), you may find yourself wondering whether this comical adventure filled with sex, drugs and rock and roll is right for you. You could always consult our big-screen cheat sheet before forming an opinion, or you could check out what film critics across the Web have to say about the new release. So far, the verdict seems overwhelmingly positive, with many reviewers describing "Greek" as the best comedy of 2010.

" 'Get Him to the Greek' is the funniest film of 2010 by a long-shot," writes Rebecca Murray of About.com. "Delivering the most fun I've had in a theater this year, this R-rated raunchy, wacky spin-off from 2008's 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' is loaded with jokes that connect, it's fast-paced, and even has a bit of heart to it (it is a Judd Apatow production, after all)."

Roger Ebert agrees with Murray's assessment of the film's heart, stating: "There are really two movies here. One is a gross-out comedy that grows lyrical in its exuberant offensive language, its drug excesses, its partying, its animal behavior. The other movie, which comes into focus, so to speak, in the last half, is surprisingly sweet, and shows that [Brand and Hill's characters] arrive at a friendship that has been tempered in the forge of their misbehavior."

A.O. Scott of The New York Times praises the film's leading men, particularly Brand's turn as drug-addled rock star Aldous Snow. "He is not as complex or as sad a figure as George Simmons, the comedian-turned-movie star played by Adam Sandler last summer in Mr. Apatow's 'Funny People,' " Scott writes. "But like that movie, albeit in a more condensed, audience-pleasing form, 'Get Him to the Greek' acknowledges the dark shadows and bleak stretches in the brightly lighted landscape of celebrity and also the resentment that can fester within a fan's love of his idol."

Not everyone is enamored with "Greek," however. Aaron Leitko of The Washington Post finds fault with the film's premise as a spin-off of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," the 2008 comedy where Brand's Snow first appeared. He writes: "TV spin-offs have a spotty record. 'Rhoda' couldn't carry the torch for 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show.' 'Joey' was a pale substitute for 'Friends.' It's rare that a previously established side character, no matter how well loved, can deliver the goods in his own show. Which is probably why nobody tries it with movies. Well, nobody but the makers of 'Get Him to the Greek.' "

Claudia Pulg with USA Today was similarly unimpressed, suggesting that the film's problems are "a lot like Aldous himself: whacked-out, occasionally clever but in need of impulse control and direction."

While Massawyrm at Ain't It Cool News personally loved "Get Him to the Greek," he identified certain types of moviegoers that probably won't enjoy the film. "If you love what [Hill and Brand] do, this will be a full-frontal assault on your gut; if not, I can honestly say that they don't stray far enough from their own safety zones to do anything that might win you over," he writes. Mexico vs Italy 2010 Live Stream Online

Mexico gave warning to its Group A opponents, with a fine 2-1 victory over Italy, in this World Cup warm-up match.

Mexico kick off the tournament's opening game against hosts South Africa on June 11th and will go into it with confidence after dominating the world champions .


Italian manager Marcello Lippi sent out an attacking line-up featuring three strikers, Antonio Di Natale, Alberto Gilardino and Vincenzo Iaquinta. The tactics almost paid off in the opening minutes when Iaquinta headed a corner against the crossbar.


As in the game against England, Mexico looked vulnerable facing high balls. Italian center-half Leonardo Bonucci had another free header from a corner later in the half, after Mexican goalkeeper Oscar Perez has tipped an Andrea Pirlo freekick over the crossbar.

But it was Mexico who dominated the first half. Coach Javier Aguirre’s line-up was based around a solid center with the experienced pairing of Rafael Marquez and Gerardo Torrado patrolling the space in front of the back four.


Up front the youthful trio of Giovanni Dos Santos, Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez had the Italian defense desperately trying to keep up with them.


Their verve got the early goal it deserved in when Dos Santos dinked the ball behind a square Italian defense. Vela was swiftly onto it and slotted the ball past Gigi Buffon in the Italian goal.


The Mexican pair continued to worry Italy with their sharp runs and link-up play. While Carlos Salcido went close with two efforts from distance.


The second half saw Mexico bring on Pablo Barrera for Marquez, while Italy brought on midfielder Simone Pepe. Both had good chances to score almost immediately.

Barrera should have scored after a dreadful error by Cannavaro. The Italian captain played a pass behind his center-half partner Bonucci and Barrera nipped in to steal the ball. However his attempted chip beyond the on-rushing Buffon was poor.


At the other end Pepe had a volley blocked by the Mexican defense.

Barrera continued to cause Italy problems but couldn’t find any decent end product to his play. Vela did better with a great run down the left. His cross for Hernandez was perfect but the new Manchester United striker missed the ball with the goal at his mercy.

The game went through a lull as both sides made a series of substitutions. Two of these paid off for Mexico, when, with six minutes remaining, veteran star Cuauhtemoc Blanco played a beautiful pass behind the Italian defense.


Alberto Medina, who has replace Dos Santos, controlled the ball with his head and smashed Mexico’s second past Buffon.

This spurred Italy to life and a free kick from the right again caused Mexico problems in the air. The ball dropped to Iaquinta whose shot cannoned off the post. The rebound eventually fell to Bonnuci, who bundled the ball home to make it 2-1.

There was still time for Buffon to pull off a point blank save from Mexican substitute Andres Guardado before the referee blew the whistle on a satisfying game for Mexico.

Golf has landed in the rough on more occasions than one lately. Tiger Woods has made it hard for many PGA fans to concentrate on the actual game. Other big names, even on the LPGA, have made matters a bit more difficult by hanging out with Ben Roethlisberger.

Either way, the Memorial Golf Tournament 2010 is well underway and the charities are reaping the rewards.

The tournament was put together in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. The golf greats can be found at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin Ohio. The earnings generated by these big name golfers has been extremely beneficial to charities like Children’s Hospital. Thus far, Phil Mickelson is leading all the other golfers in the Memorial Golf Tournament 2010.

Mickelson managed to pull in $50,000 for charity and Tiger Woods added another $36,000. Michelson pulled out a win on all nine of his skins in the Memorial Golf Tournament 2010. One of the most special parts of this tournament is that kids eighteen and under get in free. For youngsters to get an opportunity to see golfers of this caliber is fundamentally one of the best modes of giving that anyone could ask for.

Less than 18 hours after Mr. Galarraga’s effort was spoiled by an admittedly wrong call by umpire Jim Joyce, Mr. Galarraga, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, received a red Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a beige rag top in a ceremony before Thursday afternoon’s game. The car, whose sticker price starts at $53,580, was driven onto the field at Comerica Park by Mark Reuss, the president of General Motors’ North American operations, who jumped out from behind the wheel to shake Mr. Galarraga’s hand.

Chevrolet is a sponsor of the Tigers, whose outfield features the ivy covered Chevrolet Fountain. The park stands within view of G.M. headquarters on the Detroit River.

Mr. Galarraga did not speak, but he grinned and patted the top of the car as he posed with it for photographers. A teammate, first baseman Miguel Cabrera, looked even more excited than Galarraga, peering inside the driver’s side window as other Tigers grouped around the car.

Mr. Reuss said the pitcher deserved the car for the way he handled himself after Mr. Joyce’s call at first base, which took away Mr. Galarraga’s perfect game. Mr. Joyce said after the game that he made the wrong decision and apologized to Mr. Galarraga, who hugged him. Major league baseball officials are reviewing the call.

Mr. Reuss, the son of former G.M. president Lloyd Reuss, said in a statement that he had known the Illitch family, owners of the Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings, his entire life. “It is only fitting we give back for all the Illitches have done for Detroit, and to celebrate Armando’s pitching and sportsmanship during one of the most captivating evenings in Detroit history,” Mr. Reuss said.

French Open 2010 results

Shocking results as it is. Sad news but it’s true. Top seeded tennis players has been eliminated from the Quarterfinals.

Roger Federer has just been eliminated when he lost his game against Robin Soderling. He just won the first set and the succeeding sets were all dominated by Soderling. 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 (Soderling-Federer) were the official results of their game.

On the hand, Women Single’s Top Seed Serena Williams has just been eliminated also when she lost her game today to Samantha Stosur. Serena hasn’t won the French Open since 2002.

This has been shocking results. Tennis fanatics would have been very sad about this one. These things are really inevitable. Maybe these top seeded players would push on their luck next time. French Open is not for them this year.

Nevada unemployment

Nevada’s and Las Vegas' unemployment rates soared to new records during the month of April, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) announced early this morning.

The state's official jobless rate now stands at 13.7%, while Las Vegas' has again crossed a significant threshold, jumping to 14.2%, said William Anderson, chief economist for the DETR. In contrast, the national unemployment rate is 9.9%, while the only other state to consistently report a higher jobless rate than Nevada, Michigan, announced Thursday that its April rate stood at 14%.

“While the consensus may be that the recession is nearing the end, employment has not begun to show any signs of real improvement. News on the employment front remains unsettling, especially for those still struggling to find work in this down economy.”

Some of the increase is because more jobless Nevadans are looking for work: the state's overall labor force grew every month this year, presumably because workers either exhausted savings and unemployment benefits, or were buoyed because of more upbeat reports about an improving national economic picture.

Casino employment appears to be bottoming out, but construction and government continue to shed jobs

Las Vegas' casino hotel and gaming industry may have reached or be nearing the bottom, Anderson said. While still very weak, employment has increased each month this year and visitor volume has improved six out of the last seven months. Although still low by historical standards, hotel occupancy also has improved, he added, despite thousands of additional new hotel rooms Las Vegas' City Center has added since opening in December.

However, one of the state's other largest employment sectors, construction, has fallen to a level not seen in 15 years. The industry has lost almost 60% of the jobs it created during the height of the housing boom in June 2006.

Because of falling tax revenues, the public sector - particularly local government - is also now beginning to shed large numbers of jobs. In the last year, local government employers slashed or 5.2% fo its employment base, or 5,500 jobs. Job losses are expected to increase in the coming months as municipalities adjust to lower budgets set to begin July 1st.

As the devastating effects of the Great Recession continue, Nevada's social service safety net is providing aid to more and more Nevadans, Anderson said. For example, the number of Nevadans participating in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) and and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) have grown dramatically, Anderson said.

Since the state of the recession, SNAP recipients have grown 100%, while those receiving TANF aid, which is temporary cash assistance to poor families with children, grew almost 40%. In the last year alone, SNAP participation increased by almost 42%, while TANF participants grew by 33%.

Congratulations are said to be in order for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. After weeks of speculation the couple is after all, expecting their first child.

News of Carey's pregnancy broke Wednesday afternoon (June 2) with an insider claiming the couple wanted to keep the news as "quiet as possible".

"They are both very excited and very happy," the insider, claiming to be a trusted friend of the couple, told Radar Online. “Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can."

While an official confirmation has not come down from the couple that wed in the Bahamas in 2008, Carey's publicist has chosen not to deny reports, stating "I’m not at liberty to discuss Mariah’s personal life at this time."

The new album "Thank Me Later" has been highly anticipated for months as Drake's buzz continued to bubble after the release of his "So Far Gone" mixtape in 2009. As is usual in today's Internet age, songs began to leak one by one, including major features with artists like Lil Wayne, Jeezy (aka Young Jeezy) and most recently a song with Jay-Z.

The album features guest appearances from other superstars like Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Kanye West, T.I. and more and has already spawned two hits with "Over" and "Find Your Love." The album is scheduled for a June 15 release in stores but it's reported that it leaked online today, like nearly all major releases do. Because it's illegal I won't be providing a link, but it isn't that hard to find.
