Deadliest warrior nazi vs Vietcong

In Deadliest Warrior: Nazi SS vs, Viet Cong, two of the worst scourges of the 20th century are pitted against one another; Nazi against Commie. It is one of those rare instances in which one could hope both sides wipe one another out.

One of the interesting aspects of this scenario is that something like this likely happened after a fashion. A lot of the French Foreign Legion who fought the Viet Mihn, the predecessors of the Viet Cong, had been former SS. Even so, the idea of the Waffen SS slogging through the elephant grass, hunting Charlie is somewhat intriguing. They would have been far more careless about inflicting civilian casualties; in fact it would have been standard operating procedure.

The choice of main weapon for the Viet Cong was interesting. Instead of the iconic AK47, the Deadliest Warrior folks gave them an earlier, French made weapon, likely not to give the Viet Cong too much an advantage.

Also, a little bit of historical correction. The Viet Cong never defeated the American Army, at least in the conventional sense. The Viet Cong were all but obliterated during the Tet Offensive and ceased to be an effective force afterward, a fact not well reported in the media at the time.

In any event, while both sides were equally brutal, the Waffen SS was a technologically advanced fighting force while the Viet Cong were guerillas, used to making do with what was at hand. This last involved making nasty traps with sharpened bamboo pongee sticks, dipped in human feces. If being impaled does not dispatch one, the septic shock will likely carry one off if not treated in time.

Once again we see the effects of weapons on ballistic gel dummies and animal carcasses. The return of the flame thrower, last seen with the IRA, is particularly gruesome. The little snippets of the VC and the Waffen SS mowing down Americans (and French Resistance in the case of the Nazis) was a little bit disconcerting.
